Irene, a Kenyan, volunteered with Geekcorps in Rwanda, training users on Oracle Database Administration and Oracle Forms and Reports. After returning to Kenya she was hired by the same firm she'd volunteered for.
In March 2006 Irene returned once more to Rwanda, this time as a commercial software developer for the National Bank of Rwanda. She describes herself as an Oracle person who is using Java and Strutts for her current work, and doubling as an Oracle advisor for the same company: "I guess I can say that I am broadening my development skills and branching out to other tools."
