By the time John completed his undergrad Computer Science Degree at the University of Calgary, he had already been working in the IT industry for several years. Starting with basic PC repair and networking, he moved to Windows programming (Progress, Access),
then to AS/400 software (RPG, yikes!) and network administration. After several projects in this realm, and after discovering Java at the U of C, he moved into Web Site and Java
development, contracting mostly in the Construction and Accounting fields. Since then, he has been working primarily in distributed Java-based systems, and is currently the Development Lead at an online electricity exchange. In his other life, John acts with theatre companies throughout his hometown of Calgary, and enjoys literature, camping and a pint at the pub.
