J.C. Herz is CEO of Joystick Nation Inc., a consulting firm that applies the principles of game design to the creation and reinvention of products and services. Prior to founding the company, Herz was computer game design critic at The New York Times and the author of two books, Joystick Nation: How Video Games Ate Our Quarters, Won Our Hearts, and Rewired Our Minds and Surfing On the Internet: A Nethead's Adventures Online. Herz is a member of the National Research Council's Committee on Creativity and Information Technology, and serves on the board of the East-West Education Foundation.
