Michael Smith

Michael is currently stationed in Kenya working on the IT component of the One Stop Border Crossing at Malaba. The project will attempt to ease delays in customs clearance for goods traveling between Kenya and Uganda by designing an IT solution for information facilitating cargo transit. Michael was born in Chapel Hill, NC but left the country at the age of 2 not to return for about 15 years. He spent five years in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia before moving to Cyprus and completing his pre-college education. A couple more stops in Europe and the US and he had come full circle to attend UNC at Chapel Hill and earn a BS in computer science. He is now 29 with a professional focus in web application development and database design and has worked with various organizations from the Research Triangle Park in Durham, NC to Los Angeles, CA. He currently lives in Atlanta GA, is still trying to learn rock n’ roll riffs on the guitar and hopes to continue working in developing countries.
