SNADD

The Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA) signed in January 2005 between the Government of Sudan and the Sudanese People's Liberation Movement, inaugurates a new period of stability and possibility for South Sudan, including the formation of the Government of National Unity and a new Government of Southern Sudan. It also brings tremendous challenges which in turn require enormous resources.

One of the most important resources available for the task of rebuilding Southern Sudan is the Sudanese Diaspora currently spread throughout the world, with the largest concentrations in Europe, East Africa, and North America. The Diaspora has the unique skills and the enthusiasm to engage strategically in the structural development of institutions fundamental to lasting peace and economic recovery.

Of great importance is the education and employment experience of Diaspora since opportunities for Sudanese in Southern Sudan were limited during the internal warfare from 1983 to 2005.

IESC Geekcorps, with its long history of mobilizing global ICT expertise, is working in conjunction with the Government of Southern Sudan and the United States Agency for International Development to establish a unique Sudanese North American Diaspora Database (SNADD).

SNADD.org is the primary resource for identifying Sudanese in the North American Diaspora interested in participating in short/long term assignments in Southern Sudan. It broadens the base for participation by Sudanese, including coordination with existing Diaspora databases.
