To bring Lebanon into full participation in the world market, IESC Geekcorps has designed a cross-cutting program to transform information and communications technology into Lebanon's preeminent driver for economic growth. The Access to International Markets through Information Technology (AIM-IT) program seeks to:

Geekcorps and its partners will accomplish these objectives through AIM-IT's series of cutting-edge initiatives carefully tailored empower private sector firms across the entire Lebanese economy to tailor their goods and services for a global market, and will simultaneously introduce Internet connectivity to vast numbers of other public and private rural players. AIM-IT will also feature an advisory group of Diaspora technology experts to help guide all AIM-IT initiatives and identify sources of support

Cisco LogoIESC Geekcorps’ Lebanese ICT Academy program, called PICTA, is a cooperative effort between the Professional Computer Association of Lebanon (PCA), IESC Geekcorps, IJMA3, Mercy Corps, Audi Bank, Microsoft, Amcham, Intel, and now Cisco. Cisco recently awarded IESC Geekcorps with an in-kind donation of much needed equipment required to establish Internet connectivity for the PICTA Centers.

AIM-IT Clients Still Reaping Benefits as a Result of GITEX ‘06

AIM-IT LogoIn November 2006, IESC’s Access to International Markets through Information Technology (AIM-IT) program sponsored seventeen Lebanese ICT companies in exhibiting and participating in the Gulf Information Technology Exhibition (GITEX). The 26th edition of GITEX, one of the largest ICT exhibitions in the world, was held at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre. There have already been a number of client success stories as a result of the quality of technical assistance provided by AIM-IT, a USAID funded program, during the GITEX’06 exhibition. Ethos Knowledge Management Solutions is one such example.

Geekcorps Supports Lebanon’s ICT Industry

PICTA opens first training center in Lebanon

Middle East business resource AME Info reported on Wednesday, October 25, that “the PCA ICT Academy [PICTA], an ICT development project which aims to transform the lives of thousands of families throughout Lebanon, announced the opening of a training and technology centre in Baalbek.” PCA ICT Academy is a collaborative effort among multiple companies and NGOs, including IESC, Intel, MercyCorps, Cisco, Microsoft, UNDP and CA.
